Tao Nyeu grew up in Niskayuna, New York. She earned a BFA from Cornell University and moved to New York City to live life as a graphic designer. As it turns out, drawing is more fun so she waved goodbye to the design world to attend the School of Visual Arts’ MFA Illustration program. She graduated in 2007 with a special interest in printmaking.
She won the Ezra Jack Keats Award and Golden Kite Honor for Bunny Days, and the Original Art Show Founder’s Award and Marion Vannett Ridgway Honor for Wonder Bear. Her book Squid and Octopus: Friends For Always is a New York Book Show award winner and one of Bank Street College’s Best Children’s Books of the Year.
Tao lives in Southern California with her family.
